{"id":51184,"date":"2020-04-01T00:45:07","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T21:45:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/?p=51184"},"modified":"2020-04-01T00:45:07","modified_gmt":"2020-03-31T21:45:07","slug":"101-year-old-italian-man-covid-19-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/101-year-old-italian-man-covid-19-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"101-Year-Old Spanish Flu Survivor in Italy Recovers from COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the media stating that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/health-tips-for-seniors-live-a-long-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the elderly<\/a> are the most vulnerable to COVID-19, it seems that one older survivor recovered from COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>There have been a few cases of individuals above the century mark <strong>defeating the COVID-19 virus<\/strong>. Despite what society claims, these resilient people are beating the odds. One such case involves <strong>a man born during the Spanish flu crisis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Surprising survival<\/h2>\n<p>One Italian born man who chooses to be called, \u201cMr. P\u201d <strong>survived the present pandemic at the age of 101<\/strong>. According to many, this seems unbelievable, and some may think it\u2019s a false report too. But he is not the only one.<\/p>\n<p>There have been a few others who\u2019ve survived at this age as well. For now, however, we will focus on Mr. P, hospitalized and diagnosed with COVID-19 in a <strong>Rimini hospital in Italy<\/strong>. This amazing man was just recently released, completely free of the COVID-19 virus symptoms.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201c\u2026truly extraordinary\u2026hope for the future\u2026Mr. P made it. The family brought him home yesterday evening to teach us that even at 101 years, the future is not written.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Rimini\u2019s deputy mayor, Gloria Lisi<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Survival during the Pandemic<\/h3>\n<p>Over <strong>100,000 cases are recorded in Italy<\/strong> as of this week, only second to the United States. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/03\/27\/europe\/101-year-old-coronavirus-scli-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNN reports<\/a> that during this outbreak, even the elderly still have hope. And so, we fight on. The young, the old, and the middle-aged, we all pull together to defeat this thing.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe Mr. P had some built up resistance due to being born during the Spanish flu, or maybe he didn\u2019t. Considering the other cases of those around his age, this makes a bit of sense. Either way, he made it through one of the <strong>fastest-spreading pandemics<\/strong> in a while. We are surprised and both happy for Mr. P.<\/p>\n<p>After all, Mr. P has shown us that no one knows who will survive and who will conquer this deadly virus. COVID-19 cases continue to grow, not yet reaching its peak. This tells us that we should stay safe, distancing from each other, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeadvancer.com\/washing-your-hands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">staying clean<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We thank Mr. P for setting a standard of survival.
